Brockenhurst College has a new opportunity available for a Lecturer in Foundation Learning to join their teamYou will join us on a part time (0.8), permanent basis offering a competitive salary of £24,547 - £40,026 pro rata per annum DOE.

As our Lecturer in Foundation Learning, you will deliver high quality teaching, assessment and support that meets the needs of learners with complex needs and enables progression to positive adult lives. This post is directed on a FTE fraction (term time only)  to be reviewed annually in line with the increase in size and complexity of cohort. Teaching calendar of 39 weeks including inset days.

Responsibilities as our Lecturer in Foundation Learning will include:

  • Teach across Foundation Independence Hub courses as agreed with the Head of Curriculum/Independence Hub Manager.
  • Prepare and mark student work, monitor progress and feedback towards individual targets/EHCP outcomes, keep accurate records, including risk assessments. Provide timely reports/reviews to students, parents/carers and supporting Professionals.
  • Work closely with other colleagues to respond and support the pastoral and communication needs of students.
  • Contribute to the design, delivery and future planning and development of the Foundation Independence Hub curriculum in line with the Preparing for Adulthood framework and RARPA principles of target setting.
  • Pay due attention to the principles of inclusive learning including:
    - providing equal opportunities for all students to access the curriculum.
    creating a positive learning environment
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of developments in the relevant subject/course including the use of Speech and Language strategies to support language development for individual students

What we are looking for in our Lecturer in Foundation Learning:

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification in relevant subject area.
  • Appropriate teacher training qualification.
  • Experience of high-quality teaching to students with complex communication needs
  • Knowledge and understanding of current developments in SEND.
  • Flexible team player who has the ability to meet deadlines and handle pressure from a range of demands.
  • Empathy with and strong commitment to helping every student achieve their potential
