Do you have a proven ability to carry out teaching and research in food biomaterial science and the influence of material properties of food on acceptability and consumption?

The School of Food Science and Nutrition is the oldest such university department in the UK, and is continuing to grow its staff numbers, expanding its academic capability in food material science. Our aim is to provide mechanistic evidence of the importance of material science governing food structure and its multi-scale dynamic properties upon consumption. We are seeking to appoint a lecturer in the area of food biomaterial science relating to pre and post-consumption functionality who will deliver excellent research and inspirational teaching and supervision. We invite applications from outstanding academics of high potential who are able to demonstrate a growing track record in research, student education and academic leadership.

As a Lecturer, you will carry out research and teaching and contribute to academic leadership in the field of food biomaterial science with an emphasis on understanding the interplay between multiscale food structural properties (e.g., rheology, tribology, etc) and the impact of food ingredients on acceptability. You will develop collaborative research with members of the Food Colloids and Bioprocessing research group and other groups in the school, University (Bragg Centre of Materials Research) and nationally and internationally to propose evidence-based solutions for improving health.

With a vision and drive to develop a prestigious internationally competitive research portfolio as well as a passion for undertaking research-led teaching you will make a significant impact to the performance, stature and profile of research and student education at the University of Leeds. You will have a PhD in a relevant field, and a proven record of both research outputs and teaching in a university environment.
