The Lancaster University School of Engineering draws upon over five decades of excellence and innovation in engineering, and today is a thriving centre for research and teaching. Our mission is to perform world-leading research, and to use that research to help understand and solve engineering challenges of global significance.  We currently comprise over 100 research staff and we work across mechanical, nuclear, chemical, robotics & control, electronics, materials and manufacturing engineering subject areas. In summer 2023 we opened our second purpose-built engineering building, further increasing our experimental and laboratory facilities. We wish to appoint a lecturer in electrical engineering who will complement our existing research interests and be willing to engage in multi- and interdisciplinary collaborations across the School and with our stakeholders.

Applications are particularly invited from early career researchers who are building an international reputation for research in electrical engineering. You should have a clear track record of achievement and publication and a compelling vision for your research. We welcome applications from across electrical engineering, and particularly those who could contribute to research in one or more of power electronics; electrical grids; renewable energy systems; electrical machines and drives; electrical vehicles; battery systems; electronic and electrical systems design. Complementary skills in computational modelling, digital twins, data science and machine learning are also welcomed. The ability to work innovatively across research areas will be valued. You should be able to articulate how you will develop international collaborations that complement or strengthen existing research links in the School.

You will have a strong commitment to the teaching of electrical engineering, and the on-campus student experience at Lancaster. At undergraduate level, you will support delivery of our Electrical & Electronic Engineering degree offer and cognate programmes, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. A willingness and enthusiasm for teaching in the field is required, as is an openness to teaching innovation in the subject area.

The School of Engineering offers a highly collegial and stimulating environment for career development based on our departmental values of equity, diversity, and inclusivity. We are committed to family-friendly and flexible working policies on an individual basis as well as the Athena SWAN Charter, which recognises and celebrates good employment practice undertaken to address gender equality in higher education and research. Furthermore, we are active and progressive around sustainability, wellbeing and widening participation agendas.

Informal enquiries can be addressed to: Professor Sarah Green ([email protected]) or Professor George Aggidis ([email protected]).

Please submit your application on-line including a CV; a cover letter and a research and teaching statement.
