The Department of Education, Practice and Society (EPS) has specialists from a wide variety of disciplines including history, sociology and philosophy who undertake research to support education throughout the life course by contributing to economic, social and political debate as well as development in societies, nationally and internationally.

The new postholder will be based within EPS at the Centre for Education and International Development (CEID) https://www.ucl.ac.uk/ioe/departments-and-centres/centres/centre-education-and-international-development. The work of CEID is focused around six thematic areas, each underpinned with our vision of education as a critical and ethical endeavour to promote human rights, sustainability, justice, peace and wellbeing, and as a means to expand opportunities, capabilities and freedoms.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking to appoint a Lecturer in Education and International Development, who will contribute to teaching, research and scholarship within the Centre for Education and International Development (CEID).
The postholder will make a significant contribution to teaching within CEID, through the MA module on Education and International Development: Concepts, Theories and Issues, and leading or contributing to other modules and MA programmes within CEID and other related programmes. You will also conduct research on topics and issues which relate to CEID’s vision and thematic areas
In addition, you will assist with student recruitment and programme management responsibilities as required and provide supervision to doctoral research students.

ABOUT YOU

You will have a PhD in a Social Science or cognate discipline (candidates close to completion will not be considered) and a strong background in teaching in Education and International Development, with substantial experience in curriculum design, and innovation in teaching. In addition, you will have a strong track record of research and the ability to engage in internationally high-level research, relevant to CEID’s core research interests.
