The UCL School of Slavonic & East European Studies (SSEES – the School) is seeking to recruit two Lecturers at Grade 8 (equivalent to advanced tenure-track assistant professor) in Economics. These positions are part of SSEES’s current programme of academic investments and will make a critical contribution to advancing the School’s unique interdisciplinary mission. The positions require significant postdoctoral experience or similar.

The starting date is 1 September 2022.  In this academic position, you will be expected to undertake a portfolio of outstanding original research; plan and develop external research grant funding; maintain a track record of internationally excellent peer-reviewed research publications; and disseminate this research at conferences and seminars.

Your contribution to the education mission of the School will include planning and delivering high-quality teaching, assessment, and feedback at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels; supervising and assessing undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations; providing academic and pastoral support to undergraduate and postgraduate students. You will be expected to undertake relevant and appropriate School leadership and management roles as directed and supported by the Director; and to engage with non-academic actors, communities and stakeholders, including the media and the public, to disseminate and secure impact from research.

In order to carry out the duties effectively, the person appointed is required to have the following skills and experience: a PhD in Economics or a related discipline; postdoctoral research experience; a developing publication record; experience of teaching Economics at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels; excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; experience of using virtual learning environments.
