Department
We seek to appoint a lecturer (Research and Teaching) in Digital Chemistry. Digital approaches are revolutionising the way in which chemistry is undertaken, whether in the laboratory, field or theoretically. Given the growing scientific importance of machine learning, big data, and artificial intelligence, we seek to appoint a lecturer to grow our activities in this field. We are searching for an individual who has a background in chemistry, but also has cutting-edge research expertise in digital approaches applied to chemical research problems. Areas could include the application of machine learning or artificial intelligence in chemical synthesis, molecular design and materials chemistry or big data approaches to analytical chemistry, or environmental problems etc. We seek excellent communicators who have the potential to develop collaborations across the chemical sciences.
The Department of Chemistry is one of the largest and most successful departments at York, renowned internationally for our research. We strive to conduct research at the cutting edge of the chemical sciences and therefore seek to appoint an individual with a proven research interest in applying machine learning / big data methods to chemical problems. We are open to applications in any area of chemistry and expect the individual to make strong research connections with other departmental research groups.
As a department, we strive to provide a working environment that allows all staff and students to contribute fully, to flourish, and to excel. We are proud of our Athena SWAN Gold Award .
We particularly welcome and encourage applications from female candidates, and candidates from minority ethnic backgrounds, who are under-represented within the Chemistry academic staff group.
