Are you passionate about the sustainable manufacture of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and high-value chemical products? Do you have a strong background in digital chemistry and want to be part of a cutting-edge research and teaching team? If so, the University of Leeds has an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Lecturer in Digital Chemistry for Sustainability.
The University of Leeds is an internationally leading institution at the forefront of innovative research and education in Chemistry and adjacent disciplines. Our vision is to deliver innovative research and distinctive education programmes that align with the most pressing issues facing global society, and to help realise a sustainable and healthy future for all. We are now seeking to recruit four new academic staff who will lead research programmes aligned with these pressing challenges; and contribute to our taught undergraduate and postgraduate education programmes that focus on chemistry and addressing global challenges.
Meeting the challenges of net zero in the fine chemicals, pharmaceutical and allied industries will require innovative approaches to process development. Within the School of Chemistry at Leeds, we have pioneered such approaches, including sector-leading digital and data-led approaches. Examples from the Institute of Process Research and Development (IPRD) in the School of Chemistry include closed-loop systems for autonomous reaction optimisation using evolutionary algorithms, and machine-learning approaches to solvent-switching to sustainable solutions.
We are now seeking a lecturer in Digital Chemistry for Sustainability. By joining the University of Leeds, you will be part of a dynamic team that is driving innovation in sustainable and digital chemistry. You will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and a collaborative research environment (e.g., through the Institute of Process Research and Development) that encourages creativity and exploration. Additionally, you will contribute to the education of the next generation of chemists, making a lasting impact on the field. New appointments will be supported through a dedicated start-up fund, existing state-of-the-art facilities and equipment and engaged mentorship. We look forward to welcoming a passionate and dedicated person to our team who will help us continue our mission of advancing sustainable chemistry and contributing to a greener future.
