Full time starting salary is normally in the range of £45,751 to £50,798 per annum with potential progression up to £63,059 per annum

The Centre for Defence Engineering consists of three research and teaching Groups focusing on Air and Land systems for defence applications.  The Aeromechanical Systems Group’s activities are applied to fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, guided weapons, UAVs and ground vehicles.  Expertise lies specifically in: aerodynamics; propulsion; flight dynamics; guidance, navigation and control; and aviation safety and airworthiness.

About the Role

• Design, lead and deliver postgraduate teaching as part of existing taught MSc programmes, including the supervision of individual MSc research projects. Contribute to the design, delivery and management of continuing professional development (CPD) courses.
• Strengthen and complement the Group and wider Centre’s research activities through the development of research proposals, the management and delivery of research projects, and the supervision of research students.

You will have a Batchelor’s degree in engineering, physical science, or mathematics and a Doctorate in a subject area relevant to the Group’s research and teaching.  Experience and achievement in your chosen field, reflected in a growing international reputation is essential.  You will also have experience in conducting high-impact research and a strong peer-reviewed publication track record.  Project and time management skills, ensuring that milestones and deliverables are achieved on time and to a high quality are essential.
