Due to research and teaching success, we are currently seeking 2 additional Lecturers in Criminology to join our expanding team in the School of Applied Sciences. We are particularly interested in research specialisations that build on our existing team strengths in policing, criminal justice and penology, restorative justice, and victimology. We are also keen to expand our team's expertise in quantitative methods, technology and digital policing, surveillance, criminal justice and public health, race and ethnicity, international criminology, global security, and green criminology.

The role

We are looking to appoint one Lecturer who can provide their specialism in policing to contribute to our expanding teaching and research expertise in this area. We are particularly interested in applicants whose work in policing intersects with human rights, social justice, race and ethnicity, and/or technology.

We also have an exciting opportunity for a criminologist with any of the specialisations mentioned above who can complement to our high-quality teaching provision and world leading and internationally excellent research portfolio.

As a Lecturer in Criminology, you will join our vibrant social sciences team. You will make a significant contribution to research; be responsible for developing, designing, and delivering teaching and student-centred learning underpinned by academic scholarship and professional practice with your assigned areas of responsibility.

In addition to the ability to lead and contribute to a range of criminology and social sciences modules and supervise student research projects (quantitative as well as qualitative), the new lecturers will provide input to teaching on policing, surveillance, international criminology and quantitative methods.

You will be required to conduct individual and collaborative research projects, contributing to the research profile within our School, leading to the production of high quality and impactful research outputs.

Who we are looking for:

You must demonstrate the following:

• A doctoral level qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Demonstrable evidence of research and/or teaching specialisation in one or more of the following areas of specialism: policing, criminal justice and penology, restorative justice and victimology, quantitative methods, technology and digital policing, surveillance, criminal justice and public health, race and ethnicity, international criminology, global security, and green criminology.
• Evidence of a professional academic research profile that is commensurate with the stage of your career alongside a commitment to sustained continuous professional/academic development.
• Sufficient breadth and depth of experience in criminology and related subject areas to develop high quality teaching/learning and research programmes and have experience of research led teaching and/or training.
• Demonstrable evidence of teaching and learning enhancement initiatives to support the University Strategy of enhancing student experience and increasing graduate employability.

Salary: £40,927 - £50,296 per annum (Grade 6)
