Lecturer in Control Engineering

Working in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace & Automotive Engineering, you will be committed to contributing to our continued success. The successful candidate will teach control engineering across a variety of courses both at undergraduate and post-graduate level. Expertise in model-based control systems design and analysis and Matlab/Simulink numerical software is essential.

It is also essential that candidates should demonstrate capability in one or more of the skillsets below

• Optimisation methods, system identification, adaptive control, nonlinear control, digital signal and image processing
• Mechatronics engineering for undergraduate and degree apprenticeship courses
• Embedded control and real-time analysis; developing laboratory demonstrations / tutorials as appropriate to enhance the student learning experience

You will need to share our passion for delivering a positive student experience that puts excellence in teaching and learning at the heart of everything we do and will be able to demonstrate significant knowledge in your area of specialisation and support the school’s research culture. You will be expected to undertake design and delivery of teaching that is engaging, innovative and responsive that achieves excellent student learning outcomes. You must be willing to work flexibly and promote and support international partnerships, as well as potentially deliver teaching onsite at one of our international partners.

The candidate should be qualified to PhD level in a relevant subject. Alternatively, candidates with relevant industrial experience to an equivalent level are also encouraged to apply

Experience of working on applied research projects or contracts, as well as participation in professional practice/consultancy will be advantageous

The position is primarily open to candidates who wish to focus on teaching practice, development and management.  However, successful candidates will also have the opportunity to apply to become an Associate Member of one of our Research Centres. 

Exceptional candidates will be considered for the Assistant Professor role.
