Lecturer in Computer Science and Informatics

Applications are invited for 5 new Lecturer (Teaching & Research) posts in Cardiff University’s School of Computer Science & Informatics at Cardiff University.

The successful candidates will be dedicated to finding creative solutions and have a genuine curiosity and enthusiasm to undertake world-class research relevant to at least one of the School’s research groups:

• Artificial Intelligence & Data Analytics – particularly in natural language processing, machine learning, knowledge representation and reasoning, or formal argumentation theory machine learning.
• Cybersecurity, Privacy & Human-Centred Computing – particularly in theoretical and data-driven cyber security, human computer interaction, human robot interaction, mobile & social computing, mixed reality, information visualisation, digital forensics or the Internet of Things.
• Visual computing – particularly in machine learning for image, video and 3D data processing/analysis, computer graphics, applied geometric computing, multimedia computing or medical applications of visual computing.

You will possess or be near completion of a PhD in an area related to Computer Science or have relevant industrial experience. Applications from candidates with suitable experience in a commercial or public sector environment are welcome. We particularly welcome applications from women who are under-represented within Cardiff University in this field. The School of Computer Science & Informatics includes the National Software Academy (NSA), which is based in Newport and delivers industry-focused undergraduate and postgraduate Software Engineering programmes that include modules on software development skills, mobile development, security, performance, DevOps and emerging technologies. Teaching in the School covers two sites, with Software Engineering delivered at the NSA in Newport, and all other programmes delivered at our Cardiff site. These posts are full-time (35 hours per week), open-ended and immediately available.

The appointment(s) will be made dependent on relevant qualifications and experience, within the Grade 6 and 7 scales:

Salary:

£33,797 - £40,322 per annum (Grade 6) or
£42,792 - £49,553 per annum (Grade 7)
