The School of Modern Languages and Cultures at the University of Glasgow is seeking to appoint a fixed-term Lecturer in Comparative Literature (Research and Teaching Track).
The School is seeking to expand and diversify its research profile and range of taught courses in Comparative Literature at all levels. We are home to a successful and popular undergraduate Comparative Literature programme, which has recently added a Single Honours degree pathway. We have a rapidly growing Taught Masters degree, and a recently established Research Centre in Comparative Literature and Translation.
The postholder will develop, lead and sustain research of international standard in Comparative Literature; and will pursue and deliver independent research proposals and/or collaborative research projects, secure external funding, project manage research activities, develop pathways to Impact, and supervise doctoral students.
The postholder will be expected contribute to the delivery of excellent teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, assessment and administration of teaching; they will develop, lead and sustain research/learning and teaching scholarship, at an international standard, and knowledge exchange with external partners.
The successful candidate will be an experienced teacher at all levels, and will be expected to contribute to modules in Comparative Literature across the MA and MLitt programmes. Courses to be taught or convened may include, but be not limited to, the following modules in our course catalogue: Comparative Literature 1A (Heroic Men, COMPLIT1001); Theories of Reading (core course, Senior Honours, COMPLIT4003); Introduction to Comparative Literature and Comparative Literature in Practice (core courses, MLitt, COMPLIT5030 and 5031); Comparative Literature Dissertation (COMPLIT5032P).
You must hold a Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 12 (PhD) in Comparative Literature or a cognate discipline.
Excellence in research, publications and grant capture is required, relative to the specifics of the post.
This post is part-time (0.75 FTE or 26.25 hours per week) and is offered on a fixed-term basis for 16 calendar months.
