The role

You will contribute to extending the research profile of Chinese at Exeter, particularly in areas related or complementary to Translation Studies and [Comparative] Literary Studies.

The post will include convening and teaching language and culture modules in Chinese at all levels of the undergraduate programme; contributing to interdisciplinary undergraduate and postgraduate modules; contributing to the MA in Translation Studies, including leading workshops on general, specialised and literary translation, and interpreting; and supervising and attracting PhD candidates.

About you

You will have:

  • A PhD or equivalent in Chinese translation studies and/or literary studies and have an independent, internationally-recognised research programme in a relevant active field of research
  • Professional proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English
  • A strong record in attracting funding for research, or the ability to demonstrate potential to attract such funding
  • An active approach to inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research
  • Enthusiasm for delivering high quality undergraduate and MA programmes
  • Strong connections and funded projects with business and/or community partners
  • Involvement in projects which develop impact
