Salary
Full time starting salary is normally in the range of £45,751 to £50,798 per annum with potential progression to £63,059 per annum
About the Role
As Lecturer in Bioinformatics, you will have responsibility for managing module(s), short course(s) and will have to teach to a high standard. You will be expected to play a proactive role in enhancing the academic reputation of the University through nationally-recognised teaching, research and consultancy. You will also be leading and/or assist in delivery towards national and international research projects, and able to contribute high-impact publications in support of the Research Excellence Framework assessment process.
About You
You will be educated to doctoral level in bioinformatics or computational biology, with a proven teaching and research experience within bioinformatics and/or computer science. You should be able to comprehensively explain programming concepts (Using Python, Java and/or R) in a postgraduate teaching environment. You are also expected to have a technical experience and deep understanding of advanced statistics and machine learning methodologies as well as track record in publishing in the research literature

The Bioinformatics Group at Cranfield is an entirely computed-based group with research focusing on the development and application of computational methods to unravel the complexity of biological systems. We run and administer our in-house high-performance-computing facility for NGS data analysis, including de-novo assembly, RNA-Seq, functional genomics and genotyping. We also have a long track record in data science and machine learning. We work closely with colleagues in bioscience and Agrifood, applying our expertise in bioinformatics to help solve a range of biological challenges in partnership with our clients.
