Lecturer in Architecture

The University of Wolverhampton is making a major strategic investment of £100M in the establishment of a dedicated campus with new facilities for the School of Architecture and Built Environment. Located on a 12-acre city centre site, the campus is part of the brownfield regeneration of the City of Wolverhampton canal-side redevelopment. The School of Architecture and Built Environment is one of five Schools forming the Faculty of Science and Engineering having excellent industrial links, active research programmes and professionally accredited courses. The School is committed to further growing its excellent teaching provision, existing research portfolio and consultancy provision.

The School of Architecture & the Built Environment is an active and thriving subject area and is committed to growing its academic provision which centres on architecture, construction, the environment and civil engineering. This post is a reflection of that growth agenda. Teaching will involve the delivery of architectural modules on the fully RIBA validated and ARB prescribed undergraduate course and on the newly developed post graduate provision. Due to the highly student-focussed nature of our activities, you will be expected to demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and to cooperate wholeheartedly with other staff in the School in their wide-ranging activities. Contribution to the School research and industry engagement portfolio is expected as well as contributing to recruitment, marketing, transnational education and other business activities within the School.

You must have good design practice experience in a relevant subject area and must be professionally qualified as an Architect holding a recognised qualification (such as ARB/RIBA). The University of Wolverhampton operates a widening participation policy and as such you should be able to demonstrate that you can develop and maintain empathy and a good rapport with students. A proven familiarity with recent developments in the architectural field, as well as the ability to work flexibly in a team environment are essential qualities, together with relevant professional body qualifications. An established research record would be an advantage, as would experience of course development as the School implements its expansion plans.
