We are looking for a Lecturer in Applied Health Statistics to join the School of Health Sciences at the University of Southampton.

The role

You will work with our leading research teams by contributing to securing external funding awards and delivering funded studies, undertaking and supporting analyses and providing statistical support and advice. You will deliver education in research methods and data analysis, and provide support and advice to postgraduate students. You will foster collaborative relationships between the School and related units such as the Southampton Statistical Sciences Research Institute (S3RI) and Institute for Life Sciences.

This role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis. (Flexible working, part-time/ job share will be considered)

About you

You will have a PhD, or MSc degree with high statistical content, and: 

  • Experience in analysis and reporting of health care (or closely related) research studies
  • A working knowledge of one or more menu-driven statistical packages currently available to students and staff (e.g. Minitab, SPSS) in addition to expertise in one or more programmes (e.g. R).
  • Experience in delivering educational activities, such as project supervision, seminars or lectures, to undergraduate students or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate complex statistical information clearly, in non-technical language, both verbally and in writing to a range of audiences
