Salary level 6 – range £44,001 to £49,048 per annum with potential progression to £61,309 per annum

About the Role

For 30+ years the Applied Mycology Group at Cranfield University has been developing research and advancing knowledge on different aspects of mycology. Although we have an extensive international reputation on the area of mycotoxins and effects of climate change, mitigation strategies and biocontrol our research remit extends to other areas where we work in collaboration with other Universities/Institutes both nationally and internationally.

The opportunity has now arisen to consolidate these activities within the Environment and Agrifood Theme, and we are seeking to expand the team and thus making this lectureship offer available.

If successful, you will join the Applied Mycology Group, help in the delivery of current projects and then, will be expected to take the leadership and develop your own research programme of internationally competitive research and consultancy in aspects of mycology. Moreover, you will contribute to the design, planning and delivery of postgraduate teaching. A major part of the role will be to win research funding, manage projects and supervise postgraduate research students. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with our teams of plant and soil scientists and bioinformaticians, and to engage with our international collaboration and knowledge exchange networks.

About You

You will have a PhD and strong evidence of experience working within any area related to applied food mycology. You will be willing to join the current team and contribute to the development with your own research ideas and be able to effectively work independently and as a team player in collaboration with other members of the Group to deliver research and industry contracts. Moreover, you will be able to show a track-record in preparing research bids and winning research funding. You will have experience in managing, or potential to manage, a group of research staff and students. Excellent communication skills and an appetite for postgraduate teaching and supervision are required.
