About the role

University College London (UCL) wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Sustainable Construction. The post holder will be based at The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction at the Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment, a world-leading faculty ranked #1 in the world for Built Environment studies and #1 in the UK for its research environment. The post holder will carry out teaching, research, and programme administration within the Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction consistent in the general area of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) and their application in construction and the built environment. This is an open-ended, full-time position. The position is available from 01 May 2024.

About You (Key requirements)

The successful applicant will be expected to carry out research and produce high quality publications, or other research outputs; to collaborate in research initiatives in the University and externally; to seek support and funding and to participate in knowledge exchange activities with external stakeholders. The appointee is expected to be the AI lead for the department which is a new enabling role linked to this post and to be a leading voice in application of AI in Construction and communicate research outcomes nationally and internationally.

The appointee will also teach, supervise, and support students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; to contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high-quality curriculum; to contribute to examinations, marking and other forms of assessment; and to participate in departmental and faculty events, and build collaborations across UCL.

The successful applicant is required to have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field, and experience of delivering teaching to undergraduate and/or postgraduate students in relevant fields with an emphasis on application of AI and ML for the built environment. The successful candidate will be able to work collaboratively with academic and professional services staff and to deliver to strict deadlines.
