LECTURER IN AGRICULTURAL AND EXTENSION EDUCATION

Qualifications and Experience 

The successful candidate must possess a PhD from a recognized university, which should be in Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Extension & Education or a closely related field. 

Candidates should also possess:

• Training in Communications and Programme Development
• Ideally at least three (3) years’ teaching experience at a recognized tertiary institution
• Experience in teaching courses related to Agricultural Extension and Agricultural, Food and/or Agribusiness Extension methodologies
• Good record of research and publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals
• Experience in the transfer of agricultural, food or agribusiness technologies to key stakeholders at the community or national level
• Experience in field engagement with farmers, fishers or other key workers in the food sector
• Evidence of prior success in the planning of extension training programmes 

Candidates with the following would have an advantage:

• BSc in Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Education, Agriculture, Agribusiness Management or a closely related field
• Training n ICTs for Extension and Online Teaching
• Experience in teaching courses at the postgraduate level
• Experience in successful supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students
• Experience working with government agriculture ministries, private agriculture, nutrition and business firms, agricultural producer groups and agricultural education or business stakeholders
• Prior experience in extension and multi-disciplinary programme development
• Teaching experience in Communications and Programme Development
• Experience and prior success in extension in the food sector
• Proficiency in the analysis of extension data at the national or regional level using qualitative and quantitative analytical tools 

The following would be considered assets:

• Training in at least one (1) of the following areas:
• Nutrition Extension
• Agribusiness Extension
• Agribusiness Management
• Entrepreneurship
• A good track record of developing thematic research programmes and history of attracting research funding
• Experience in applying research findings to satisfy industry needs
• Experience in teaching courses in at least one (1) of the following areas:
• Agricultural Extension
• Agribusiness Management and Entrepreneurship
• Nutrition Education
• Experience in revision of existing curriculum or development of new curriculum to keep abreast of development and innovation in the area of expertise
• Proficiency in both face-to-face and online teaching
