Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
£32,958 to Senior Manager Scale
The School of Engineering combines 3 academic disciplines: Mechanical and Marine Engineering; Civil and Coastal Engineering; and Navigation and Maritime Science.
The School has an international research profile in marine robotics, offshore renewable energy, composites and metallic materials, and coastal engineering, with access to excellent research facilities. The University's GBP 19M marine building, which opened in 2012, houses exceptional marine testing facilities within the state of the art wave tanks and a new full mission ship bridge simulator. The University also operates a High Performance Computing (HPC) cluster to support numerical modelling and CFD applications. These facilities are further to others within the School and Faculty that include the Advanced Composites Manufacturing Centre, the Advanced Materials Characterisation and Electron Microscopy Centre, and a new Marine Station development. Engineering research within the School includes the following research groups: Autonomous Marine Systems, Materials and Structures, Composites Engineering, Engineering and Society, and Coastal, Ocean and Sediment Transport.
Among the school's accredited undergraduate mechanical engineering programmes are BSc, BEng and MEng honours degrees in Marine Technology, Marine and Composites Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering with Composites, Mechanical Design and Manufacture. A new MSc in Advanced Engineering Design starts in 2017. Within the civil engineering programmes are BEng and MEng honours degrees in Civil Engineering and Civil and Coastal Engineering and MSc programmes in Civil Engineering and Coastal Engineering.
Following the launch of the new School of Engineering at University of Plymouth, we are seeking to make three new appointments in Engineering.
