We are looking for a Learning Spaces Technician to join our AV & Learning Spaces team. This role is critical to supporting our student, staff and external customers and to delivering an excellent user experience to all.

In an ever-changing technological landscape and as a progressive institution, we see our teaching and learning spaces as integral to our success. The AV & Learning Spaces team sits within the Information Services department and provides technical and operational support for a wide variety of IT & AV technologies across the entire University.

The role 

As a Learning Spaces technician, you will work as part of the AV & Learning Spaces team to support the provision, installation and maintenance of the IT technology & AV equipment across the entire University estate.  You will also support the use of this technology by our Professional Services and Academic staff and assist in their understanding of how this technology will work when used within the teaching and learning framework.

This is a hands-on role, supporting staff, students, and visitors in their use of systems ranging from Windows and Apple devices through to complex audiovisual installations.

Who we are looking for 

You will have excellent communication skills with a strong customer focus and must have practical experience of working in a customer support environment providing technical solutions. 

You must have:

  • Knowledge and understanding of computing devices (such as Windows desktop workstations and laptops, iOS and Android tablets and smartphones, scanner/copier/printers) and software.
  • Experience of delivering IT and AV technologies collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to approach and resolve problems in a logical and practical manner 

Additionally, you will ideally have: 

  • A degree and/or demonstrable equivalent experience
  • ITIL Foundation certification
  • Experience of delivering IT and AV technologies within a Higher Education environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of Apple OSX desktop workstations and laptops *
