The University of Portsmouth is seeking a creative and experienced Learning Designer to join our Faculty of Business & Law. This is an exciting time of change across the sector and the University, and the Faculty is committed to ongoing investment in digital education. The role reports to the Faculty Blended and Online Development Lead, and involves working as part of a team including academic and technical staff to support the strategic aims of the Faculty, informed by the University’s Digital Success Plan for Learning and Teaching, and the Faculty’s Strategic Plan.

The post holder will support our academic course and module teams to (re)design and deliver their courses and modules for different modes of study, including online learning and our “Blended and Connected” pedagogic approach. The successful candidate will have experience of guiding academics through the use of appropriate learning design methodologies, supporting staff through the stages of conceptualisation, design, institutional approval, all the way to teaching practice in line with agreed principles and evaluation. They will have a commitment to research-informed practice, as well as excellent knowledge of appropriate learning technologies.

The successful candidate will also have a solid understanding of the learning and teaching context in higher education, including principles around assessment, curriculum design and teaching delivery, and a commitment to delivering a quality student experience. They will have learning, teaching and support experience at different levels, including leading staff development, and will have worked on collaborative learning design projects. With excellent presentation and communication skills, they will be expected to balance the needs of different stakeholders while working to achieve agreed outcomes.

This post will be primarily carried out on Campus.
