Learner and Discovery Services (LDS) is the award-winning unit of The Open University (OU) responsible for the production and delivery of the University’s curriculum; it also has a central role in the design of learning materials. 

The role

The award-winning OU Library is seeking a qualified librarian who will;

Support learning and teaching activities, including the development of students as independent learners, by providing advice and guidance on the access to and use of library content, resources and services to meet the needs of students, learners and University staff.

Work in partnership across the OU’s Learner and Discovery Services (LDS) portfolio and with faculty colleagues to support the growing digital capabilities agenda and integrate library content systematically into the curriculum using new and innovative approaches as appropriate.

Promote and embody positive attributes and behaviours in a fast-moving context and advocate for the values of the organisation. 

Skills and experience

  • You will have the ability to excite and engage students and academics by designing and delivering digital capabilities and resource-based learning activities to enhance the curriculum.
  • Understand the pedagogic use of online resources and technologies in distance learning and have awareness of accessibility issues.
  • Have the ability, to work with and influence academic and professional services colleagues.
  • You will have a flexible, proactive approach, and excellent Interpersonal communication and organisational skills.
