Are you a pro-active and influential colleague with a passion and commitment for student education? Do you have the skills and experience to lead on the implementation of the University’s assessment strategy and to ensure that the University’s expectations for assessment and feedback are effectively embedded and implemented across the University? 

Working alongside the Dean for Student Education (Quality and Standards), you will be responsible for the academic leadership of the implementation of the University’s Assessment Strategy and reviewing, refreshing and embedding the Leeds Expectations for Assessment and Feedback (LEAF).  With strong interpersonal and leaderships skills, you will work in partnership with the University’s other academic leads for assessment, Professional Service leads with responsibility for Assessment matters, other key academic role holders such as Assessment Leads, Directors of Student Education, School Academic Leads for Inclusive Practice, Academic Integrity Leads and Pro Deans for Student Education.   You will also consult and work with students to implement refreshed, effective and clearly understood approaches to assessment and feedback across the University.   

Reporting to the Dean for Student Education (Quality and Standards) you will be responsible for leading the implementation of the Assessment Strategy and LEAF across the University, developing tools, resources and working with professional service colleagues to develop associated policies and requirements.  You will champion the use of the Assessment Strategy and LEAF to support the delivery of key elements of the University’s student education strategy. You will help lead and coordinate academic and professional service colleagues, via the Assessment Lead Network and other key groupings, disseminating and providing guidance on inclusive, authentic and reliable assessment practice.  

You will have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of student education, learning, teaching and assessment practices with experience of successfully supporting the delivery of projects or initiatives in an academic environment. You will have excellent leadership and communication skills and the ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve goals. You will have the ability to lead and support project management activities and understand how to work within the University’s governance structures to ensure buy in and the follow through of objectives. You will have experience of influencing and negotiating with colleagues in challenging situations.
