The Estates and Campus Services team delivers a wide range of services for the University from catering to sports facilities, from accommodation to grounds maintenance, and from estates management to the luxury hotel, Wivenhoe House.  Our teams aim to deliver a professional and seamless service to students, staff and visitors.

Our work supports the University in the development of new facilities, the ongoing development of vibrant campus communities and optimising reinvestment to support development opportunities.

The Security team operate a continuous shift pattern to provide unbroken assistance and welfare support as required to University students, staff and visitors, whilst maintaining the security of the campus buildings, property, accommodation and grounds.

Duties of the Role

We are looking for an individual to take on the roles of Lead Security Officers to assist and support the Security Co-ordinator in undertaking operational delivery of day-to-day security services across our Loughton campus.  You will be required to undertake a range of safety, welfare and security duties whilst assisting in the supervision of a team of officers.  The role will require you to assist in in-house training for the team and to develop a professional ethos among officers within the team.

Skills and qualifications required

It is essential that you hold a current Security Industry Authority (SIA) Licence, which includes door supervision and CCTV, or the ability to gain this before the completion of your probation period You will need good IT skills with a knowledge of a range of MS Office packages and knowledge of electronic security systems, including CCTV and body worn camera systems.  It is also preferable for you to have, or a willingness to train for, a first aid qualification as well as have training in conflict management and physical intervention and mental health first aid training.

Experience of managing the provision of security and a strong customer focused environment with the ability to both manage and work as part of a team including the use of your own initiative is essential.

Due to the nature of the work, this appointment is subject an Enhanced DBS check.
