The Language Centre

The Language Centre sits in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities and currently delivers core language provision for three degree programmes: BA International Communications, BA International Studies and BA International Business (with Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Japanese or Korean) as well as MA International Communications and MA Interpreting and Translation.  The Language Centre also delivers optional language modules that are taken university wide by students on a wide range of degree programmes.  In addition to this the Language Centre is also developing a commercial evening class programme as well as Executive Education courses for target audiences.

Since its inception in 2005, the Language Centre has continued to grow significantly. At present, it caters for over 1,000 students.

The Language Centre is now recruiting one German tutor to support further development of the team. Candidates must hold a degree in a relevant subject and a language teaching qualification (such as Teaching German as a Second Language or degree in German language teaching). They must also have the ability to teach German language from beginner to advanced levels; be able to use digital tools effectively for teaching and administration and be competent in the use of effective communication and presentation skills in English. 

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver German language classes across all years of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes; to develop resources to support independent learning, to contribute to our developing external activities and to carry out administration and developmental activities in line with the strategic development of the Centre.

Salary will be within the range of RMB 251,823 to RMB 309,554 per annum depending on skills and experience (salary progression beyond this is subject to performance). In addition, an attractive package including employment support allowance, first arrival allowance and insurance will be provided for international appointments.

This post is available from February 2022 and will initially be offered on a one year fixed-term contract with the University of Nottingham Ningbo China. It will be renewed upon performance for a period of up to 3 years. This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement.
