The Solana lab seeks a lab technician to assist in the maintenance, animal culture and basic molecular biology procedures of the lab. The main aim of the lab is to study planarian stem cell differentiation using single-cell analysis. This position is funded by an MRC grant. This is a 3 year contract.
The successful applicant will have a MSc in Biology or equivalent and at least one year of laboratory experience, experience in lab management, basic molecular biology skills as well as experience in ordering and monitoring lab consumables.
The main duties will involve the general maintenance of the lab, taking care of invertebrate animal cultures and performing basic molecular biology procedures. The successful applicant will work with the lab head and other lab members to assist in the day-to-day research activities and work together with other university employees to ensure availability of consumables and equipment, and that health and safety procedures are in place.
