The role

An exciting position for a Laboratory Technician (Anatomy) in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences.  You’ll be working in a fast-paced and dynamic Laboratory environment dealing with veterinary and pathology sciences, so you’ll need a strong constitution, willingness to get your hands dirty and flexibility and adaptability to be able to keep up with an ever-changing environment. 

You’ll also need to be physically fit and able to assist with the preparation, delivery and clear up of anatomy teaching classes. This includes the ordering and collection of supplies and specimens from a variety of locations using a Van, so a valid UK Driving license is a requirement.  

Other responsibilities include:

- Perform Laboratory maintenance tasks such as equipment checks, setting up & monitoring teaching equipment, and sterilisation duties to ensure clean PPE is provided for all teaching sessions

- Monitor & maintain a safe working environment in accordance with Health & Safety Procedures, including COSHH and disposal of waste & specimens

- Safe handling of biological samples

- Lifting and carrying heavy loads with and without the aid of lifting equipment 

- Assist with the design and development of Models used in teaching across the vet school

The role may require a significant amount of manual handling and an ability to adapt to changes in the workload at peak times. You must be able to work independently and have good time management skills.
