The Neuroscience Center (NC, https://www.helsinki.fi/en/helsinki-institute-of-life-science/units/neur... ) is an international research unit within Helsinki Institute of Life Science (HiLIFE) of the University of Helsinki. NC works towards making fundamental discoveries about brain functions and translation of research findings into improvements in the treatment, prevention and diagnosis of psychiatric and neurological disorders. The research in NC spans across several scales from stem cell research and molecular neuroscience to systems and cognitive neuroscience in both animal and human models. The research groups of NC conduct research in neuroscience at the highest international level and actively apply the results for the benefit of the society. NC collaborates actively with other units of HiLIFE and faculties of the University of Helsinki, Helsinki University Central Hospital, Aalto University and Neurocenter Finland.

Neuroscience Center, Helsinki Institute of Life Science -HiLIFE, University of Helsinki is looking for

LABORATORY ENGINEER

for a permanent position. The position will start on 1.8.2022 or as agreed.

The successful candidate is expected to have expertise in biomedical engineering, data-management, data science, and/or health technologies. Prior experience in cutting-edge neuroscience technologies and electrophysiology is considered an advantage together with coding skills. The qualification requirements include an applicable degree in engineering from university of applied sciences or vocational school or similar.

The selected candidate will be responsible of maintaining and supporting the operations of cutting-edge research technologies in rodent in vivo brain imaging and electrophysiology unit as well as in our human EEG laboratory. The tasks further include overall data management, analysis as well as equipment services for the institute together with other relevant work and support of the research groups in NC. The core facilities comprise of rodent in vivo brain imaging unit and platforms for in vivo electrophysiological recordings in both anesthetized and awake mice, and human EEG. Salary will be based on the University salary system for specialist and support staff, ranging from 3100-3800 €/month depending on the appointee’s qualifications and experience. A trial period of 6 months will be applied.
