The Institute of Biotechnology is a part of Helsinki Institute of Life Science, HiLIFE, with a mission to increase knowledge in biotechnology and integrative biology and use this for the benefit of society. We are looking for a full-time Laborant for the Media Kitchen core ( ) facility operation. The position offered is open-ended after a 6 month trial period. The employment should start on June 1, 2021, or as agreed.

The Media Kitchen core facility is responsible for the preparation of culture media, buffers and similar solutions mainly for the use of the Institute’s research groups.


  • Relevant education (e.g., laboratory technician or a final stage student or equivalent degree)
  • A good knowledge of regular laboratory techniques; work experience from a research or industry laboratory is an asset
  • Good communication skills and knowledge of English
  • Good skills in organizing laboratory work
  • Precise work routines
  • Basic knowledge of MS office software (Word, Excel)

Additional computer skills, particularly basic web page maintenance are considered as assets.
