The University of Kent is undergoing an exciting period of change to raise its profile and deliver an ambitious Kent 2030 strategy. We are building on our world-class teaching and research reputation to become a leading civic university, supported by progressive programmes that put us at the heart of public and intellectual life.

Kent Business School (KBS) is a leading business school with an outstanding reputation and a ‘triple crown’ accreditation (AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS). With delivery taking place across two campuses, in Medway and Canterbury, KBS is a large and growing school, with tremendous potential.

The University has a vision for the business school to leverage its excellent profile for growth, with doubling of income in 5 years, ensure a student-centred curriculum, delivering academic excellence and high-level transferable skills to ensure the best student outcomes and employability. This vision includes the delivery of a range of high quality academic and policy-based research and innovation. This will be achieved by developing significant partnerships, working with industry and a transnational approach to education and research.

As part of this exciting journey, we are looking for an experienced, inspiring and engaging individual to lead KBS through a period of transformation focussed on growth, an outstanding student experience and greater international reach and reputation.

As Dean, you'll be responsible for developing the plan to ensure continuous growth, development and financial profitability of the business school whilst enhancing the quality of provision to students. You’ll be an engaging and consensus-building leader, with outstanding academic credentials, a track record of successful leadership, a proven capability for strategic thinking and the ability to inspire and motivate others to deliver the objectives set for them. You will be expected to demonstrate your ability to develop and lead innovative and successful projects which have added to the scale, profitability and quality of your current organisation.

To apply you will need to upload the following:

  • A full academic CV detailing career and achievements
  • A covering letter that addresses your motivation and suitability for the role. This application should include, albeit preliminary and at high level, your assessment of KBS’ position and your initial thoughts for improvement and growth (max. 2 pages).

Please note that we prioritise applications from current University of Kent redeployees. We will let you know if this post is to be filled by a redeployee as, in this instance, your application will unfortunately not be taken forward.

Applications must be made via the University’s online application system; CVs or details sent directly to the department or via email cannot be considered.

The University of Kent values diversity and promotes equality at all levels.
