A post-doctoral position is available in the Jefferis group for an enthusiastic bioinformatician to work in close collaboration with the AstraZeneca NGS/Transcriptomics team (Dr Joseph Collins). Your research will be at the interface of connectomics and transcriptomics; working on information-rich datasets, you will establish methods to map developmental single cell transcriptomes to morphology and connectivity with the final aim of understanding how genes specify neuronal cell types. The successful candidate will have the chance to participate in further data collection and other experimental activities. 

The ideal candidate should have a PhD in a relevant subject or a Master’s in a relevant subject and doctoral-level experience in: 

  • Coding in R and/or Python.
  • Experience with at least one of:
    • Single-cell transcriptomics data analysis
    • Machine learning
  • Experience with software/open science best practices (desirable).
  • Neuroscience/development/Drosophila genetics/dissections/molecular biology (not essential)
