A position is available for an Education Office Manager (Undergraduate) to provide a lead within the Education Office for supporting undergraduate students within the School of Biosciences.
The successful candidate will have experience of supervising the work of others and managing own workload concurrently, evidence of ability to solve expansive problems using initiative and creativity and evidence of ability to maintain the highest standards when faced with competing demands and deadlines.
This is a full time, open ended position.
Salary: £27,511 - £31,866 per annum (Grade 5)

Job Description
To Provide a lead within the Education Office for supporting undergraduate students, leading and managing a team who support both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students in the School of Biosciences.
* Jointly manage (with other Education Office Managers) the operation of the Education Office with particular responsibility for Undergraduate support; planning, organising and delegating work, monitoring progress and intervening as required.
* Lead specific areas of Undergraduate administrative support to include, for example: programme management, administrative support for specific UG academic year groups including enrolment, assessment and progression.
* Manage and supervise the work of a team providing administrative support in specific areas of the Education Office’s remit.
* Develop specialist knowledge within own area of responsibility and provide guidance to both students and academic staff within the School.
* Lead and take ownership of an area across both Undergraduate and Postgraduate support, for example, programme management and quality assurance.
* Work closely with the other Education Office Managers to ensure there are consistent processes for education support involving both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
* Manage the performance, induction and development of the team.
* Support and guide team members in welfare issues, escalating as necessary to specialist support areas.
* Ensure the delivery of the team’s services to a high standard, following School procedures and University regulations and deadlines, adapting approach to services according to changes in workload and customer requirements.
* Collaborate with others in order to improve established Education Office processes and procedures and create and implement new procedures in line with changes to wider University and or School policy.
* Undertake the training and development of others in areas relating to the teams work enabling them to work effectively and independently with confidence.
* Undergo personal and professional development that is appropriate to and which will enhance performance.
* Establish working relationships with key contacts to help improve service levels, developing appropriate communication links with Academic staff within the School, and within Professional services as required.
* Gather and analyse data to inform management decisions, establishing basic trends and patterns in data and creating reports as appropriate.
* Ensure that an understanding of the importance of confidentiality is applied when undertaking all duties.
* Abide by University policies on Health and Safety and Equality and Diversity.
* Perform other duties occasionally which are not included above, but which will be consistent with the role.

Essential Criteria
1. Degree/ NVQ4 or Equivalent professional membership/experience.
2. Experience of supervising the work of others and managing own workload concurrently: working unsupervised to deadlines, planning and setting priorities for own work and that of others and monitoring progress.
3. Substantial experience of working in a comparable administrative environment, working under pressure in a varied role with competing demands and deadlines and a high level of interaction with customers.
4. Evidence of ability to conduct data analysis without existing procedures and present data in an format appropriate for the situation; demonstrate a general high level of IT competency, including Word & Excel and complex databases.
5. Evidence of ability to set up standard office systems and procedures and make improvements to ensure that stakeholder needs are consistently met.
6. Evidence of ability to communicate detailed and complex information effectively and professionally with a wide range of people and to give advice and guidance to internal and external customers.
7. Experience of supporting staff with their wellbeing and/or and dealing with performance and welfare issues
8. Evidence of ability to explore customers’ needs and adapt the service accordingly to ensure a quality service is delivered.
9. Evidence of ability to solve expansive problems using initiative and creativity; identifying and proposing practical solutions and resolving problems with range of potential outcomes
10. Evidence of ability to react effectively to changes in policy and workload while maintaining a positive customer experience and excellent attention to detail.
Desirable Criteria
1. Experience of working in a Higher Education environment ideally in a student-facing role
2. Experience of working in an administrative role supporting undergraduate or postgraduate education.
3. Experience of managing and motivating a team with a variety of responsibilities.
4. Experience of managing change within own role or that of others and demonstrated ability to respond effectively to a changing external context.
5. Fluency in Welsh, written and oral
