The post – Internal Auditor

The University of the West of Scotland is a leading edge modern University that dares to be different, investing in people’s potential to shape a better future for themselves, their industries and the communities they live in.  As we drive this agenda forward, the University’s Internal Audit Service provides independent and objective evaluations of operational and academic processes, providing management and the governing body with assurances that these are fit for purpose in delivering the University’s strategic aspirations, with adequate and effective measures in place to mitigate threats to successful outcomes and, where appropriate, recommend improvements.

An opportunity has arisen within the Internal Audit Service for an Internal Auditor.  Reporting to the Head of Internal Audit Service, the post holder will be involved in the planning and delivery of process reviews.  The work will be challenging and varied and will require someone who has the capacity and capability to quickly develop an understanding of an unfamiliar process and through critical analysis and testing evaluate that process against appropriate standards.

Prior knowledge or experience of internal auditing is not essential; this role is positioned as a graduate entry point into a professional career path and emphasis will be placed on candidate attitudes and transferrable skills throughout the selection process.   Successful candidates will be supported through a blend of project based coaching and supervision and access to other structured professional development opportunities.  The post holder will be encouraged to pursue the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditor’s Certified Internal Auditor qualification.

You will enjoy working as part of a team, have excellent communication skills, and the ability to prioritise and manage a busy workload. With drive, enthusiasm and tenacity you will be accustomed to operating within busy environment.
