Installation Officer – Improving Wireless Programme

We have an opportunity for a 6 month secondment on the Improving Wireless Programme as an Installation Officer.

The Improving Wireless Programme seeks to improve wireless provision across the University by rolling out the Managed Wireless Service. The programme now has funding from Digital Transformation for a pilot for the next 6 months.

The Installation Officer is an important role within the Programme and will be the main technical point of contact between University Colleagues, third party suppliers and our Programme Delivery Team. You will be expected to support departments and colleges with their installation activities: to facilitate on site walkarounds within University buildings supporting conservation, Health and Safety and planning discussions, help identify any cabling or wall mount issues, and to provide on-site approval for any work completed by third party technical specialists to ensure an excellent standard of deployment.

The role is responsible for owning the technical relationships amongst the various programme stakeholders, to schedule and facilitate meetings with IT Support Staff and Building Managers, and be able to work with our Managed Network Services wired and wireless teams.

The successful candidate must be available to work on-site, and be comfortable working at height with regular manual handling; (training will be provided). The individual must have an excellent eye for detail and strong project management skills.

This is a full-time post working on-site within Oxford.
