The College of the North Atlantic - Qatar is inviting nominations and applications for the position of Information Services Librarian in the Library Services Department. Reporting to the Section Head, Reference & Instruction, the Information Services Librarian must be a proven leader with the skills and expertise necessary to support the Library Services Department in fully implementing the College’s mission and vision.

Duties & Responsibilities:
This position requires an energetic and enthusiastic individual who will provide information services and instruction to students, faculty, and employees, assist with research needs, and contribute to the learning environment at the College through the support of library services.
Candidates should have experience in library services or a related field, and possess the qualifications necessary to be successful in the role of Information Services Librarian. The successful candidate will support the Section Head, Reference & Instruction in reference and research services, provide instructional sessions, answer reference questions in a way that helps students and employees improve their research skills and identify research needs.
The successful candidate will utilize and share expert search strategies, provide guidance on appropriate resources, and follow up on research inquiries to ensure information needs are met in a timely manner.
The successful candidate will update and create online subject and resource guides that highlight technology, current trends, and Library resources to aid in student and employee research needs.
Other important functions include delivering information/digital literacy and research classes, supporting library collection development, maintaining knowledge of publications, reviewing feedback from users and analyzing curriculum and accreditation needs. Our partnership with faculty is essential to our services, and the successful candidate will be able to build and nurture these relationships.
The successful candidate will support scholarly communication functions including advising and instructing on copyright, open access, publishing, and impact analysis. He/she will also assist in the assignment and delegation of tasks to Senior Support Specialists, Library Technical Support Specialists and student employees.
The successful candidate will participate in College and Departmental committees, assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of Library policies and procedures, and attend departmental meetings, in addition to participating in initiatives to monitor and enhance student learning development and success.
Education and Certifications:
Master’s degree in Library and/or Information Science, ALA-accredited or equivalent program
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in Library Services or related field
Fluency in written and spoken English language
Fluency in spoken Arabic will be an asset (but not required)
Other Required Skills:
Strong leadership skills with a desire to achieve organizational success and to lead by example is required. A proactive can-do attitude to work and good time management is essential. The candidate should have the ability to anticipate change and effectively manage quality and risk at all times. Effective decision making and information management is required. Commitment to positive relationship building and effective working relationships across all levels of the organisation is required. Technical knowledge of Library and Information Science is required. Candidates should be committed to ongoing training and continuous professional development, with excellent interpersonal skills and a strong aptitude for teaching.
