This is a part-time, fixed term contract until the end of July 2024, with the possibility for extension.

Up to 1.5 days per week (applications will be considered for 1 – 1.5 days as part as flexible working arrangements/patterns to be agreed). This post is a great opportunity for an individual wanting to gain an experience and understanding with the field of Information Governance/Records Management.

The Information Governance Team is seeking a talented and experienced professional for the post of Information Governance and Records Officer within the Information Governance Team.  Reporting to the Records and Information Governance Manager, this demanding role will require you to act as a point of contact for requests for information including Subject Access Requests, Freedom of Information requests and Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) requests, as well as requests from statutory bodies and other third parties. 

The role will also require you to develop and monitor the University’s Information Asset Registers ensuring that any associated risk with information assets are effectively captured.

You will already have some experience in this area, demonstrating your knowledge in handling data protection issues and requests for information (including the application of exemptions) in accordance with Data Protection and Freedom of Information legislation, EIR regulations, policies and/or procedures.

This key post has responsibility for dealing with a wide-range of information management processes including: record retention/disposal, capturing and monitoring information incidents/breaches, supporting schools and services in  undertaking Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Information Asset Registers with specific responsibility for dealing with information requests under the relevant legislation and delivering on corporate information governance work programmes to ensure the effective implementation of data protection compliance across the university.

You will also be able to demonstrate your understanding and application of the data protection principles and the ability to provide professional information governance advice to colleagues across our University in your day-to-day work.

Your organisation skills will be exemplary and with excellent verbal and written communication skills you will have the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
