Edge Hotel School

Edge Hotel School opened to students in 2012, supported by the Edge Foundation (an education charity) to provide a new kind of higher education provision in hospitality and events management, where students’ academic study in the classroom is integrated with regular experience working with industry professionals in Wivenhoe House Hotel (a 4-star hotel based on the University of Essex’s Colchester Campus). The School’s ethos rests on strong industry engagement.

Since 2018, the School has been fully integrated as a department in the University of Essex in the Faculty of Humanities and in 2020 became the top department in the UK in its subject area with 100% in the Student Satisfaction Survey

Duties of the Role

We are looking for an efficient and professional individual to fulfil the role of Industry Engagement Officer. The Industry Engagement Officer will co-ordinate the industry engagement within the School as well as supporting the implementation of industry initiatives such as scholarships, industry conference coordination and employability fairs. You will provide advice to students and staff, and to contribute to improving the level and scope of industry involvement within learning at the School.

Skills and qualifications required

Applicants should possess a degree or substantial equivalent experience, and recent significant experience of working in a relevant administrative environment.  The ability to work well as part of a team, to work accurately and remain calm under pressure are essential.

The successful candidate will have strong administrative and organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high standards, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will have a commitment to supporting student success and will lead on industry engagement. A knowledge of or experience in the Hospitality, Events or Tourism industry is essential.
