Developing Business-Aware Academics Project

Innovation, Impact and Business – Business School

This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.

This full-time post is available immediately on a fixed term basis until December 2026. Part-time and job-sharing arrangements can be considered in agreement with the successful candidate, ensuring that business needs are met.

Summary of the role

Research England (UKRI) has recently awarded the University of Exeter a £5 million grant to deliver the Developing Business-Aware Academics project. Led by the University’s Business School, the project is a partnership with the Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS) and five English business schools. It will pilot and evaluate a range of initiatives aimed at helping doctoral and early career researchers – from across all disciplines but especially in science and technology – to develop the business awareness and competencies that improve innovation and knowledge exchange across academia and industry. This is a 4-year project running from January 2023 to December 2026.

This Impact and Partnership Development role supporting the Developing Business-Aware Academic project will be hosted within the Innovation, Impact and Business (IIB) Business School Partnerships and Programmes team, which provides dedicated support to the Business School for the development of impactful partnerships with external, non-university organisations. The role will be part of a project team dedicated to this project, and will be responsible for effective project coordination, supporting the Project Manager in undertaking activities including resource planning, financial management, monitoring and reporting. The successful candidate will need to be confident working with colleagues across the Business School and Professional Services and external partners to the project
