This new full – time post is available from the 1st February 2023 on a permanent basis.

Summary of the role

The University of Exeter is seeking an experienced business development manager to lead its growing programme of collaboration within the Health and Care Services sector as well as support the development of key partners in health and the medical sciences.

The University has strong relationships and an excellent reputation with businesses, the NHS, policy makers, charities and other non-academic partners in these sectors and makes a real impact on society and the economy. This role will work closely with the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (with a focus on the Department of Health and Community Sciences and Department of Health and Care Professions). The Faculty’s research strengths lie in applied health research – it focuses on research that reflects the needs of patients and of health service providers, based on partnership with the NHS and other public bodies and a strong commitment to public involvement. The successful candidate will lead on impactful education and research in Health and Care, and lead on initiatives which aim to improve patient care, outcomes, and diagnostics across the lifespan.

The successful candidate will have experience of working successfully with partners from across academic, public and private sectors and will have extensive knowledge of research and education innovation opportunities and the knowledge exchange needs of the sector. They will be responsible for coordinating and supporting existing activities in this area, identifying opportunities to deliver greater value to these sectors and to the University, working with researchers from across disciplines and Faculties, and engaging with industry and policy makers.

This exciting and entrepreneurial role will be based in the University’s Innovation, Impact and Business (IIB) Division.  The key aim of IIB is to draw on the University’s education, research and physical assets to add value and impact to our partners. This includes research collaboration, commercial services, new venture development, skills, placements, and education partnerships.
