Research Services
This full-time post is available immediately on a fixed-term basis for three years.
Three posts are available within Research Services, each facing one of our three faculties: the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy (ESE), the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (HLS); the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS).
This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on our Streatham campus, Exeter, or Penryn campus, Cornwall and some time from home.
About the role
This important role falls within the remit of Exeter's Research & Impact Strategy https://www.exeter.ac.uk/research/services/strategy/strategy/ . The development of impactful research is a major priority for the University of Exeter as is evident in the framing of Exeter’s Strategy 2030 https://www.exeter.ac.uk/strategy2030/researchandinnovation .
We are implementing policies and systems to support academics with the impact that arises from research. This post will support academics in the understanding, evaluation, tracking and evidencing of research impact, working closely with one of three faculties, providing a single point of advice, training and support for the faculty including:
- Training in the range and diversity of potential research impact
- training in the evaluation, tracking and evidencing of research impact, using University systems and tools where appropriate
- supporting the faculty to understand their research impact pipeline, in preparation for the next REF period
About you
- You will have experienceof working in a research or impact support role, ideally collecting evidence or undertaking impact evaluations to demonstrate the impact of research
- You will have a good understanding of the range of potential research impact, including how it can be tracked and evidenced in preparation for future REF impact case studies
- You will have experience of providing training to small and large groups of people, as well delivering as bespoke 1:1 guidance
- You will have excellent communication skills enabling effective collaborations which stimulate the trust, confidence and enthusiasm of the academic community, partner organisations and external bodies
- You will work effectively with staff at all levels and across all academic disciplines
- You will have a good understanding of the higher education sector
- You will have excellent attention to detail
- You will be able to work on your own initiative and be good at problem-solving
