Overview
Queen Mary is looking to invest in a talented and self-motivated Head of Software Engineering who is seeking a new challenge within a complex and diverse IT department.
Job Purpose
Queen Mary has recently launched a major new Identity and Access Management (IAM) programme. This is a key building block in enabling a number of strategic objectives and benefits for the University including improved cybersecurity, enhanced user experience, regulatory compliance and reduced cost of associated services.
The IAM capabilities will enable four key pillars:
- Identity Governance and Administration
- Privileged Access Management
- Access Management
- Authentication
We are taking a product-based approach to delivering this programme, delivering in an agile and iterative manner to achieve quick wins and benefits early and often.
We are creating a dedicated team and capacity for progressing this critical aspect of the University physical and digital infrastructure. You will be a key member of that team, reporting into IAM Product Owner.
Core Skills
You should have a bachelor’s degree/or professional qualification in IT (or equivalent) or able to demonstrate significant experience in relevant areas. Strong skills and experience in the following areas are essential:
- AD architecture and infrastructure (LDAP, directory replication, group policy, security, schema changes, domain controller’s management)
- DNS, Kerberos and Windows authentication, to include authentication with other technologies such as Single Sign On, MFA, SAML, OAuth
- at least one of FIM/MIM, NetIQ, and Azure AD Connect.
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining a role-based access control framework and associated documentation
- administering systems on both Linux and Windows platforms

The post is a full-time, 18 month Fixed-term appointment. Starting salary will be in the range £48,035 - £53,625 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.
