HR Policy Adviser

We are looking  for an experienced HR professional to come join the HR Policy Hub on a Fixed Term Contract until 31 July 2025. This is an exciting opportunity where you will help us deliver a programme of work to support the People Strategic Plan and University Strategy, which places people at the heart of our organisation.

The University’s Human Resources directorate offers a wide range of advice and support to more than 6,000 staff and managers at all levels in the University’s varied functions.

What you will do

You will be supporting the People Policy Lead & Policy Hub Manager to:

  • Deliver change through work on high-profile strategic projects to meet the needs of the University.
  • Review, develop and embed our people policies and procedures that drive the culture and behaviour of the University.
  • Develop and maintain our suite of employment contract templates to ensure they remain  legally compliant and relevant for a modern University.
  • Provide advice and guidance to HR colleagues on the interpretation and application of people policies and terms and conditions of employment.

About you

You will be able to demonstrate an up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law. You will have experience of researching best practice and providing advice on terms and conditions, organisational policies, procedures, and practices. With an eye for detail, you will have excellent written skills to draft policy and contract documentation clearly and concisely. You will also be able to engage with our key stakeholders including trade unions to collaborate and consult for the best result.
