HR Business Partner

We are seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to join our team working across the Faculty of Arts, Law and Social Sciences.

In this busy, varied role you will advise managers of all levels on operational aspects of HR management and contribute to the development of corporate HR policy in order to achieve the aims of our HR Strategy and University Plan.  HR is truly valued at the University and you will work closely with a group of stakeholders within the Faculty who will proactively seek your input and advice.     

This role is fixed term until 31st July 2025 and working arrangements will be up to full time (35 hours per week). We are open to part-time working at a minimum of 0.8 FTE. 

Working with your allocated area of the Faculty you will establish strong working relationships with key managers. Working with the local finance team you will undertake workforce planning, analysing and interpreting HR Management Information data.  You will also be responsible for managing organisational reviews, and assisting with the management of academic procedures at School and/or Faculty level.

You will provide advice on employment legislation and assist in the dissemination and implementation of new or revised policies and or procedures.  A key aspect of the role is working closely with your internal customers to provide advice, guidance and support them in dealing with any issues of misconduct, poor performance, attendance or capability.

  • Experience of working in a similar position as a HR Business Partner and a good understanding of the higher education sector or an equivalent environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of balancing a busy caseload and successfully partnering with managers at multiple levels in a complex environment.
  • Flexibility in your approach and be happy to be part of a supportive team.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are a pre-requisite with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and effectively to stakeholders of all levels.
