MRC Harwell Institute is an international biological research centre at the forefront of the use of mammalian models to study genetics and human diseases. Are you looking to start a career in HR? An exciting and new opportunity has become available as a HR Apprentice based in UKRI's Medical Research Council at the Harwell Campus, Oxfordshire!
This opportunity is due to commence in January 2022 and is supported through the Apprenticeship Programme where applicants will undertake and complete an 18/24 month apprenticeship to gain a CIPD Certificate in People Practice, Level 3!
We will strive to provide a well-structured programme that will enable an apprentice to develop and utilise their knowledge of Human Resources.
Eligibility
This UKRI apprenticeship role is open to those who have at least 5 GCSEs including Maths, English and ICT at grade 9 - 4 (A*- C).
Main Job Activities
- Assisting with the administration for all recruitment campaigns such as entering data onto our recruitment system, monitor applications, compile shortlisting packs, invite to interviews, meeting and greeting interview candidates, including Right to Work checks.
- Undertaking all administrative duties related to the Employee Life Cycle. This will include the creation of employment contracts; new starter forms and pre-employment checks; collaborating closely with relevant teams, at MRC Harwell, including our Shared Services team, ready for the start date; induction coordination; employee life cycle paperwork e.g. Contractual changes, etc. probation report monitoring.
- Ensure effective leaver process is adhered to, including leavers paperwork and any changes notified to payroll in a timely manner.
- Administer fixed term contract extensions and assist with monitoring the fixed term process to support the HR Officer.
- Other HR related administration tasks include flu vaccines and health checks; recognition awards, processing purchase orders etc.
- Assist with handling day to day queries and providing HR advice, working on a range of HR processes.
- The job holder is required to undertake such duties as may reasonably be requested within the scope of the post. All employees are required to act professionally, co-operatively and flexibly in line with the requirements of the post and the MRC.
