Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated individual with experience of applying design methodologies in a health or healthcare context to lead our work in Education at the Helix Centre.

Operating out of St Mary’s Hospital, the Helix Centre is one of six centres within the Institute of Global Health Innovation (IGHI) at Imperial. We lead a number of education initiatives, including specific modules within the MSc / MRes in Healthcare and Design , in collaboration with the Royal College of Art (RCA), and IGHI’s MSc in Digital Health Leadership programme as part of the NHS Digital Academy.

Duties and responsibilities
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Specific modules on the MSc / MRes in Healthcare and Design , in collaboration with the Royal College of Art, an exciting 2-year part-time postgraduate course delivered both in-person and online to students from both Imperial College and the RCA.
- The “Design for Digital Transformation” module within the Institute for Global Health Innovation’s Digital Health Leadership programmes (MSc, PG Dip and PG Cert). These flagship programmes of the NHS Digital Academy aim to nurture the next generation of networked informatics leaders across clinical and non-clinical roles in the NHS. To date, the programme has trained over 500 leaders through online and residential learning.
- Future education offers from the Helix Centre, including development of bespoke corporate training, online short-courses, in-person bootcamps.
- Continuous improvement of our Education offers and methods.
- Identifying and acting on strategic opportunities for further collaboration with partners at the Royal College of Art.
- Communication with participants in the programmes, including senior executive stakeholders.
Essential requirements
This role would suit an Educator or a Designer with applied experience in the principles and methods of human centred design in a healthcare context.
- Postgraduate degree (or equivalent) in a design-related discipline E.g. Industrial/product, communication, interaction or service design, or a teaching qualification
- Experience designing and developing products or services in collaboration with user groups in healthcare to meet their needs.
- Experience in postgraduate teaching.
- Skills to coordinate teams in multi-partner collaborations.
- Planning and management skills, including ability to prioritise workloads when working on multiple projects.
- Outstanding communication, presentation and inter-personal relationship skills.
Further Information
This is a full-time fixed term role for 24 months. You will be based at St. Mary’s Campus (Paddington, London), though hybrid working will be considered for this role.
