We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the existing Health and Safety team. Reporting to the Head of Health and Safety, you will lead on fire and facilities safety to assist in providing competent advice to the LMB Director. Your role is to ensure the safe working environment at the LMB buildings. You will support cutting-edge science by monitoring and advising on health, safety and regulatory compliance issues, specifically working with LMB members and other stakeholders.

Safety Advisors are expected to work as both specialist advisors leading on their key topic areas as well as generalists, so all members of the Health and Safety team need to have the competence and flexibility to support the wider departmental function. You will therefore provide general Health and Safety support and advice to research and support staff on a wide range of topics, with the mission of supporting a positive safety culture that enables high quality science.

You will be a team player with the ability to engage collaboratively with staff at different levels, organise your own time effectively and have a flexible approach as the work demands can change. You should hold a science degree (or equivalent) and the NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. Previous experience of scientific research and laboratories is desirable.

This post is available on a full or part-time basis (minimum 28.8 hours per week). Following completion of training, we can consider informal hybrid working arrangements, with up to 1 day working from home per week.

The LMB has a collaborative working culture and state-of-the-art building based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. We have on-site parking, cycle enclosures and excellent public transport links. The main LMB building has a staff restaurant with roof terrace, on-site nursery, sports and social facilities.
