About the role
The Humanities Division is seeking to appoint a Head of Technology on a fixed term contract for 2 years.
This role arises from the recommendations of the 2022/23 IT Infrastructure Service Review and recognises that implementation of the review’s outcomes (especially the focus on the culture and practicalities of shared service delivery) requires senior management leadership within divisions and across the divisions and IT Services.
You will drive cultural change and technical change within the Humanities Division in order the fulfil the vision of one federated IT infrastructure delivery organisation, and lead the engagement of Humanities with the University’s Shared Infrastructure Services Programme. You will work together with other University heads of technology (and similar roles) to identify, prioritise, develop, and oversee the implementation of shared services.
This is a fixed term post for two years. While this is a full-time post, we welcome applications from candidates who wish to work part-time (minimum 30 hours/0.8 FTE and/or flexibly).
The postholder may also agree a pattern of remote working with their line manager.
About you
You will have experience in delivering IT infrastructure services and technology change initiatives, gained at a senior level, whether in a commercial, public sector or higher education environment.
You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the challenges and requirements of IT service provision in a large organisation, and experience of supporting effective shared service solutions.
You will have experience of developing and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues, senior stakeholders within the University, and third-party providers, and to work collaboratively with peers to develop shared solutions.
Experience of financial management, in particular, budget oversight, service costing and pricing, procurement, and developing and maintaining supplier relationships is desirable.
The duties and skills required are described in further detail in the job description.
Application process
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online via the 'Apply' button above where the job description and access to the online recruitment system can also be found.
