Salary: UH9 £56,021pa pro rata to £63,029pa with potential to progress to £66,857pa by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience

Annual Leave: 30 days pro rata plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: College Lane campus, Hatfield

This is a new and key post to assist the Director of International Education in the leadership, growth and delivery of the University’s study abroad and exchange activity and the development of short-term and virtual international experience opportunities. As such, the Head of International Mobility will contribute to the strategic development and operational leadership of the study abroad programme and management of the University’s exchange partnerships. It will involve significant communication and liaison internally with the University’s schools of study and externally with the University’s exchange partnerships.   

Main duties and responsibilities:

Key duties will include assisting in managing and developing the portfolio of international partnerships with peer universities for study abroad and exchange and related dual and joint award mobility opportunities. You will need to advise and assist our academic schools with the development of international experience opportunities for students and staff, including short term mobility, in line with the Global Experience Strategy. You would also assist in managing mobility funding programmes, such as the Turing Scheme and other funding sources, including budgets and application and seeking of new funding sources. You would be expected to represent the University within higher education organisations at national, European and international levels, including contributions to conferences, seminars and workshops.

Skills and experience: 

You will need to have experience of senior leadership and a knowledge of the global higher education landscape, and experience of study abroad and exchange activity, including virtual exchange. The post will require good communication, networking and liaison skills with the ability to build relationships internally and externally at all levels and to engage and inspire others in the development and delivery of study abroad. You will be able to think creatively and have the ability and willingness to try new and creative approaches to problems, as well as the ability to think and plan strategically, manage projects, articulate priorities, organise resources and deliver change. It will require good organisational skills, the ability to use initiative, and a flexible approach and delivery to deadlines. You will demonstrable self-reflection skills, and a willingness to travel overseas in support of and development of the University’s mobility activity. 

Qualifications required: 

You will hold a minimum of a Bachelors Degree or equivalent qualification.
