Research and Innovation Services provides support and services for our academics

working across the research and innovation lifecycle with a focus on applying for and

managing funding, and providing professional advice on collaborations and contracts.

The Directorate is comprised of four teams; Award Services, Contract Services, Planning,

Insight and Improvement, and Compliance and Assurance, who all work together to deliver a service to support, advise and provide expertise to our academic community for our extensive and varied portfolio of externally funded projects.

About the role

This role requires the provision of a high quality and specialist support and advisory service for the costing and pricing of UCL’s research and innovation activities, as well as governance and compliance considerations.

It also requires someone with an extensive and detailed knowledge of UCL’s researchand innovation portfolio, and to have excellent knowledge of the HE funding landscape, as well as specialist pre-award research management.

About you

The post holder will be based in the RIS Pre-Award team and will be responsible for ensuring that UCL’s research grant applications to external research funders have been developed in line with relevant UCL and funder requirements, assessing successful applications against terms offered and setting up awards in UCL financial systems.

Key to success of this post will be the ability to forge close and proactive working relationships across the RIS teams, and with UCL academics, departmental staff, as well as external collaborators and funders.

The post holder will line-manage a small team of Research Support Officers and will be responsible for their development, measuring performance, support and workload review.
